ART AND FAMILY : THE CHAN LIM FAMILY OF ARTISTS AND STUDENTS EXHIBIT

January 22, 2017

ART AND FAMILY. I love art and family is also close to my heart, so the Chan Lim Family of Arts and Students event last Sunday was a treat for me. Last time I was able to hold a paint brush was way back in architecture school when my professor asked us to paint the landscape outside. So it was fun to get to practice painting again.

The Chan Lim Family of Artists has been engaged in the arts for close to half a century. In the present, there are three generations of Chan Lim artists who use a wide variety of media, styles and techniques to incorporate Western into Eastern art.The family continues to get invloved in the arts by actively developing and prooting Chinese brush painting in the Philippines and abroad. The passion of Chan Lim, the family patriarch lies in Oil and Watercolor. While most of his art is on canvas, he has forayed into other media such as porcelain plates, Asian lanterns and fans to infuse Western techniques into traditional Eastern art.

After having an on-the-spot Chinese Painting by Dr. Alex Chan Lim, we all tried our hand at Chinese painting.

We tried Chinese Painting!

An entertaining number showcasing Chinese dance, in celebration of the Chinese New Year!

The yer 2017 celebrates Chan Lim's 80th birth year, a very auspicious milestone in the Chinese culture. All art exhibits during the year will be highlighting this event.Eight of the exhibits will be specifically themed to celebrate this felicitous event.

The Chan Lim Family is one of the few remaining notable Chinese brush painting artists in the country today, and is sought after in this field. Art classes are conducted in the family studio located in Pasig City. Their paintings can be found in private collections here and abroad.

Come and visit the Chan Lim exhibit at SM North Edsa The Block Atrium, with over 300 artworks done in procelain plates, scrolls and oil paitings. The exhibit is participated by 43 talented artists and will be help from January 15- February 12.

Witness the majestic exhibit and take part in celebrating a prosperous new year ahead!
