REFRESHINGLY CHIC. We recently helped a friend with redecorating his condo unit. He asked for something relaxing and modern, we immediately suggested Scandinavian interiors.
Renowned for their simplicity, utility, and beauty, Scandinavian homes have a pure, pared backed style that is centred around warm functionality, clean lines, flawless craftsmanship and understated elegance. The use of light is considered to be extremely important, and many Scandinavian homes are characterized by the use of earthy muted tones, honest materials and minimal ornamentation.
In my opinion, Scandinavian design is one way to have a modern and functional space, without sacrificing the warmth and homey-ness. I find that this particular style pays homage to the modern and minimalist design without being too cold and stiff, thus it is the perfect way to go, if you want a modern yet warm look for your space.
Here are a few design pegs/ images that we think exudes this particular style:
Use of wood and simple lines make this bedroom/ sleeping nook cozy and warm.
I love the contrast of the black table against the white furniture. The use of light colored/ stain of wood also gives a homey feel to this space.
This modern space is both warm and modern as well as finctional
Notice the modern elements mixed with use of wood.
Scandinavian Design uses muted colors to evoke a feeling of minimalism at the same time, use of wood softens the look.
In other news, I am back to blogging! I missed writing as well (my outlet when I'm stressed. heheh) I promise that will try to write more. :)
Hope you are all doing great! Christmas is just around the corner, have you started shopping and decorating your home already? :)
