We were craving something sweet, and after having dinner in Greenbelt, my friends and I took a stroll around to look for a desert place. We so happened to stumble upon Gelatissimo, and decided to try it out.
Since I love chocolate, I ordered chili chocolate. I had already tasted a chocolate bar having the same flavor (Lindt chili chocolate, which I crave from time to time, but cannot find a store that has it.) and I loved it, so I was excited when I ordered my scoop of gelato. I was not dissappointed. I loved my order.
Gelatissimo recreates the Florence gelato experience incorporating Italian music, photographs and a romantic Italian experience. It serves authentic Italian gelato, gelato shakes, it's signature Bambino cones and quintessentially Italian sundaes to the delight of customers young and old. (http://www.gelatissimo.com.au/).
Their selection of gelato ranges from chocolate flavors (all kinds: chocolate, dark chocolate, chili chocolate, cookies and cream, snickers...) fruit flavors, vanilla, lots of other choices (cant remember all the flavors, so much to choose from!) They also have new products: this includes Italian coffee, traditional Italian biscotti, light meals and chocolates made in Australia with Italian heart.
I was thrilled when they opened a branch in Trinoma. We had dessert there after our valentines day dinner.
Now my gelato fix is just a train ride away. The interiors are nice. Rich and red. Overall experience inside the store is nice, very comfortable seats, relaxing atmosphere. What else is needed when there are lots of gelato flavors displayed in front of you?
Nothing gets better than that. :)
Iam stressed now and would so love a scoop of chili chocolate. :)

I love shoes. If given the chance to choose between buying shoes or bags, I would go for shoes. They have this way of upgrading your outfits. As they say, "the heel is worth the money, it is plastic surgery, therapy and a glamour magnet all in one : money very well spent". Very well said. :)
When I see a pair of shoes I like, I think about all the outfits I can wear with it, then I buy it. Recently, my sister and I fixed our shoe cabinet, and I realized that most of my shoes are pumps. I would like to buy more of what we call 'fierce shoes' : booties, cutouts, lace-ups, brogues. Think Jeffrey Campbell-like.
But at this moment, I still have a fixation for pumps. I'd like a pair in every color. hehe.
(note to self : slow down on the shopping. haha)

Starbucks coffee and Green Architecture. Two of my favorite things. I love starbucks, and I love architecture, so it was a really nice experience when I finally had the chance to visit the Starbucks Green Building at Fort Bonifacio. Ordering your favorite Starbucks drink (mine is always Dark Mocha Frap) and then sitting at a table in what I call the 'atrium' (double volume space in middle of the store, open to above) was relaxing, i enjoyed sipping my drink and taking in all the details of the building. I actually visited the store with my officemates from our architectural firm, so we had a pretty good discussion on the architecture of the building. I had the opportunity to research on Green/Sustainable Architecture back when I was in Architecture school at UST, and I did a green building for my thesis. One of the things that so fascinates me are the numerous, countless things/innovations/design features that an architect can incorporate into his/her design that will not only make the architecture awesome, but also making a conscious effort to help the environment.
So I couldn't help but look around. Architects have this urge to knock on surfaces and feel for textures and finishes, and sometimes I catch myself looking up at the ceilings and staring at buildings in awe of the architecture.
The Starbucks building was really interesting. It had, what I mentioned earlier, a double volume space in the middle of the store that I think helps with the circulation of air, and frees up space, so that the interior feels airy, voluminous and grand. The building is LEED certified. LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system, providing third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies intended to improve performance in metrics such as energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts. (from Wikipedia.) To be LEED certified, an architect/designer needs to consider certain points/factors such as use of materials, construction methods, and concepts in design such as cross ventilation and rainwater harvesting. Around the building, signs are posted, indicating the numerous factors that have been considered in the design, such as use of materials and recycling.
The interior was also commendable. Very Filipino, with it's interpretation of the traditional Capiz windows.
Coffee anyone? :)
love,
Rache

And what's interesting about this particular Starbucks is that it has a drive through window, where you can get your favorite Starbucks drink to go! :) When you're in a hurry, and you have to get your coffee fix, then you'll really enjoy this feature : for the coffee lover on the go! I haven't tried the drive thru feature yet, I want to experience it soon!

When you hear Monique Lhuillier's name you think elegance, relaxed looks, and classic styles. But I've read in a blog (fashionista.com) that she opened her fall show this year with something unexpected, an animal print outfit. I loved all the outfits in the collection, something I would wear. The collection was done in neutral colors: lots of black, hints of beige and red, and in materials such as chiffon and lace.
As it is awards season, we might see more of Monique Lhullier on the red carpet, and most of the pieces in this collection look like they were made to be worn just for the occasion. Here are some of my favorite looks from the collection (credits to fashionista.com, **All photos: IMAXTREE).
I love the off-the-shoulder gowns. |
